ECS Digital - insights challenge
Content Strategy Innovation
At ECS Digital, a fast paced DevOps consultancy, with global talent and projects, communicating ideas worth sharing was a costly logistical nightmare. Publishing content was difficult and often delayed from a lack of resources.
I was able to spend time with staff to assess the situation and find strategic blind spots, while tapping into potential stories across the organization. I then developed and managed a new and innovative content system and strategy that streamlined content production and collaboration with subject matter experts, launching an internal competition and platform called the Insights Challenge.
This was a way to incentivise collaboration with content marketing efforts and reward ECS Digital's 120 consultants for sharing their knowledge and insights. The challenge (now in its fifth iteration) encouraged employees to be interviewed by content writers, to present at conferences, have their presentations recorded on video or audio or to even write articles and reviews themselves that will be edited internally. An internal scoreboard helped to create competition around the challenge and there were a range of different rewards and prizes for sharing your knowledge and expertise.
With this new system, rather than operating in a rush every week to get content published, we began producing enough content to build a backlog for the coming months. Content became fast, efficient and more engaging to our target audience. In a few months we produced more content than the company had in 2 years - and for only a tiny fraction of the cost we were previously paying a marketing agency. Brand awareness and authority increased with steady growth in traffic to our website, social channels and company page on LinkedIn.
